Packaging Development Supervisor

PROFILE SUMMARY :

Packaging Development Supervisor is responsible for define and develop House Hold packaging design, material, and specification as accordance with RB’s Global Standard, also make improvement for packaging material related to cost, supplier, design, etc.

Packaging Development Supervisor interacts, internally, with the Packaging teams in plants, Procurement, Marketing, Production, QA, R&D, Logistics, Process Development Teams, and HR Department.

Externally, interacts with the Suppliers, 3rd Party Manufacturers, Consultants, Design Agencies and Universities.

RESPONSIBLITIES :

Getting Project Brief and Item Creation Through System :

  • Prepare RFQ (Request Form Qualification) to procurement for House Hold primary packaging, If possible RFQ estimation for secondary packaging.
  • Request SKU line up from supply excellence.
  • Generate Barcode for marketing and packaging developmentCreate draft BOM (Bill Of Material), check BOM accuracy, inform to QMS and Packaging Development Manager.
  • Create draft BOM (Bill Of Material), check BOM accuracy, inform to QMS and Packaging Development Manager.
  • Create TPS (Technical Packaging Specification) and PPS (Print Packaging Specification) in TDS (Technical Document System) and initiate approval workflow.

    Get TPS sign off from supplier.

    New Artwork Development, Stability Testing & On-the spot Color Proofing :

  • Ensure artwork availability from IDM in supplier and get color guidance for artwork.
  • Get preview artwork from supplier for approval.
  • Get approval from marketing / customer country.
  • Send approval to supplier.
  • Get supplier’s converting schedule and ensure delivery date.
  • Assess and consult Project Team / R&D and get confirmation if stability test is required.
  • Order and prepare for House Hold PM (Packaging Material).
  • Trial line labeling / sleeving if necessary.
  • Handover and test samples to Laboratory.
  • Get proof print and color tolerance approval at supplier site.
  • Communicate to Marketing on color tolerance and distribute approved proof prints.
  • New Bottle & Cap Development :

  • Get supplier testing result (dimension, drop test - including top on bottom one piece every action, vacuum leak test, leakage test, line trial, stability, including ESCR, and other related test).
  • Get Laboratory report and its approval.
  • Send report to supplier and procurement as a good proof of PM.
  • Moulding Process Improvement Initiatives :

  • Conduct process validation
  • Conduct dimension and weight verification
  • Get supplier testing result (dimension, drop test - including top on bottom one piece every action, vacuum leak test, leakage test, line trial, stability, including ESCR, and other related test).
  • Report internally and report approval.
  • Send report to supplier and procurement as a good proof of PM.
  • Fitting Test :

  • Initiate order and get outer case samples.
  • Prepare designated product and conduct fitting test.
  • Report and report approval.
  • Transportation Trial :

  • Prepare product to be tested referring to Transportation Trial Procedure.
  • Ensure trial labels are placed.
  • Perform test transportation, including make sure the goods has been shipped and contact to our counterpart to ship back including monitoring.
  • Get report from Packaging Lab, report approval, and documenting.
  • Other Additional Roles adn Responsibilities :

  • Conduct analysis of Packaging complaints and Quality issues.
  • Conduct analysis of Packaging process issues.
  • Meet and approach Packaging material supplier for improvements and issues in quality or process.
  • Visit supplier regularly.
  • Audit Periodic Packaging quality to mass production line to verify and validate against specification.
  • PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCES :

  • Bachelor Degree in Packaging Engineering or related scientific field (Example pass out of Indian Institute of Packaging)
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in similar FMCG sector and packaging materials
  • Technical knowledge of packaging materials and related processes
  • Knowledge of injection, blow & thermoforming and molds
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technology (both on the making of the packaging components as well as the related filling, capping, labeling and packing technology and any other packaging technologies i.
  • e. printing, aerosols, laminates, etc will be an added advantage)
